Lady Gaga has been known to copy styles from which Madonna had created or had originally used in the eighties. Lady Gaga's image is quite clearly followed on from the eighties classic of conical bras, big hair, leggings, leotards etc.. Although her style has increased to her own fantastical ways. Gaga who has been compared to Madonna has said "I don't want to sound presumptuous, but I've made it my goal to revolutionize pop music. The last revolution was launched by Madonna 25 years ago" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_gaga#Influences) Lady Gaga does admit to being a big fan of Madonna but wants to re-invent 'pop' music and bring her own vibe to it.
Lady Gaga is also known for having inspiration from English eccentric Leigh Bowery, Isabella Blow and American artist Cher. After looking at pictures of Leigh Bowery you can see where her style icon really shines through with all the over the top make-up, costumes and obscene outfits, few of her outfits have been inspired by him & also Isabella Blow, the way she designs hats is perfect for Lady Gaga's style and it makes you realise that actually she isn't a modern day Madonna. Lady Gaga was also a big fan of Alexander McQueen and also a close friend got her style and clothes from him.
